I often wonder what brought people to New Cumberland. Not the people who founded the town, but the people who live here now. According to the borough website, New Cumberland has a population of approximately 7,300 people. Sure, many of the people who live here were born and raised here, but many others started somewhere else. To the many who have lived here their whole lives, I am grateful to you for keeping New Cumberland nice enough so the rest of us would want to live here.
Everyone has a story about how they made their home in here. I started out in another part of Pennsylvania. I had visited a friend a few times who lived here (and still does). During one visit, I met my wonderful husband. We started cross-state dating and eventually, I decided that I wanted to live here, too. I've been here ever since. My husband, on the other hand, is one of the ones who grew up here. His family has deep ties here and it is nice to be a part of that. I have children who will be lucky enough to say as adults that they grew up in New Cumberland.
Everyone we pass by on the street has a story on how they ended up making New Cumberland their home. How did you end up calling New Cumberland home?
Have been in New Cumberland since !968. We found a house we liked & have been here ever since......my Mother worked for Dr. Raymond Kuhn on Bridge Street.....our sons went to the west shore schools in our area. It is a nice quiet community & we love it!!!!
ReplyDeleteWe moved from near Lewisberry twenty years ago. I could see the commute up 83 was going to get a lot worse, and we couldn't walk to anywhere. The places that have been here a long time, the schools, post office, library, and of course, Coakley's, give you that "Cheers" feeling. Some are sadly gone, like Avatar's and Puiliti's, and we're glad to now have Dingledein's, Bella Rosa and Tickle My Senses. It's the little town that could.
